If your marketing on facebook through a facebook fan page, you likely noticed a new metric called “people talking about this” added to your page yesterday.
Facebook has described the metric as follows:
This metric refreshes daily but goes back a week. So it’s the current barometer of how much conversation is being generated by someone’s Page on Facebook. It’s a good gauge of the content Pages are putting up and how to generate more conversations around a Page

Here are the basics you need to know:
- The number is refreshed/changed daily
- The metric includes individuals commenting (talking) about one of your page’s posts
- This metric includes individuals sharing one of your page’s posts
- This metric inclues people mentioning your page by tagging a photo.
- This metric includes people sharing a check-in deal or checking into your Facebook Places page.
