Google’s addition of the +1 box to its search results didn’t catch anyone by surprise. It has long been rumoured and documented that Google was going to integrate more social tools into their search results pages and their +1 integration went live (to users who opt into their test)
For AdWords managers , there are implications to the +1 tool in that users can click “plus one” in the ad. The idea here, Google hopes, is that users will see recommended ads from their friends and trust that ad and advertiser more. One would see the immediate implications on the all important quality score metric and how +1 clicks could help boost click-through-rates… right?
Well, it seems that savvy advertisers have already tried to game the system and encourage +1 clicks and as such, Google has released new Adwords Policy updates, you can see them here, and here.
