Using Coupon Codes To Promote Your Business

We recently started working with a very fun client who sells worm farms across the United States. As I was reviewing his traffic reports, I noticed a healthy amount of traffic (and conversions) from retailmenot.com. It got me thinking more about this strategy for organic traffic generation.

Start by evaluating your business model to determine what kind of discount you can offer. Even if the discount is small (say 10% off) the traffic that can come from coupon code sites can be substantial. Savvy online shoppers are trained to run a few quick searches for “product + coupon” or “coupon code + product” before they make a purchase decision. If you incorporate the discount into your advertising costs or view this discount as the cost of acquiring a customer then 10% off is quite reasonable. Moreover, you could be creative with your discounts, offering a % off for orders over a set dollar amount.

Where to Post Your Discounts

Here is a list of potential places to post your discounts:

retailmenot.com

coupons.answers.com

couponcodes.ca

storecrowd.com

coupons.redflagdeals.com
