Using A/B Split-Testing to Create the Best Marketing Campaign Possible

Once you get beyond the basics in internet marketing, you start to want to refine what you are offering. The name of the game in online advertising is adaptability, and you must constantly be able to change up what you are offering based on results, or lack of results, if the case may be.

When you first start a marketing campaign, you may be content with just using the analytics that you can get through Google to see what is working and what is not working for a marketing campaign, especially for on in which you are using Google AdWords. However, as you start to get more advanced, this doesn’t quite cut it.

If you have created multiple landing pages that cater to different types of clients seeking different products or offers, than you really are going to want to be able to track exactly which landing page produces sales or results, and which ones fail to engage the visitor. Luckily for you, this type of analytics doesn’t involve you staring at numbers. There are software services available to you that crunch the numbers so you don’t have to.

While software tracking is not new, the level of sophistication of some of the statistical tracking has gotten quite good. For example, if you wanted to do what is called “A/B split-testing” you can install code for a software service that does all the work for you. A/B split-testing takes the URL for a link to your site, and splits the visitor to several different landing pages. You can determine what percentage of your visitors end up on which landing page. Once at a landing page, the software then tracks their click-through patterns via each landing page. This is invaluable to you as a marketer as you need to compare and contrast different methods for attracting customers.

The best split-testing programs don’t stop there; however. Some of the programs, like LinkTrackr’s split-testing software also allow you to enable a conversion tracker. This tool lets you see the conversion rate for a customer’s visit to your site, to an actual sale. This type of return on investment statistics can make the difference from a campaign just making you a little bit of money, to a campaign actually bringing in an incredible amount of cash.

LinkTrackr’s successful software service is not free, which is often the case when you are talking about a quality software program. It is a monthly subscription service. As a marketer, you know that sometimes you have to make money to get money. Likewise, there are times when you need to go ahead and pay for advanced analytics instead of relying on incomplete free data. Don’t just create a site and let it lie fallow on the web. If you do that, then all of the work you did to create the site in the first place just isn’t worth it anymore. Spend the time and money to truly learn from your landing pages, and make them work for you.
